HECKELS (or HECKELS)

I’m interested in the occurrence of Heckles anywhere in the world at any time. The earliest record we have is from Leicestershire in 1548 but most instances occur in North East England after 1625. Other branches of the family became established in Cumberland and Yorkshire. Our earliest detailed records date from the marriage of George Heckles to Rebbecca Harrison in All Saints, Newcastle on Tyne. It is their sons George (born 1753) and Richard (born 1764) who are the direct ancestors of all the Heckels family members for whom we have details.
